Cooling Refrigerants of the Future.

An air conditioner or heat pump counts on its refrigerant to cool and dehumidify the air before it’s sent back through your home. This liquid is contained within the coils of a cooling system, but one of the most common refrigerants used for a very long time – the R-22 (Freon) is now being replaced due to environmental concerns. In fact, this phase-out was mandated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency through the Clean Air Act. By 2020, R-22 will no longer be in production.

Introducing R-410A

R-410ARecognized by the EPA, R-410A is a chlorine-free and ozone-friendly refrigerant. That means it’ll cool your home without hurting the environment. Even better news, Lennox’s most efficient systems are engineered to use this AC refrigerant, which can help your system operate efficiently. The same Lennox systems are known for dependability, quiet operation and enhanced dehumidification, so you’ll stay comfortable.

Additional Considerations

At Air-Dynamics Inc in San Angelo, our cooling offerings can work with R-410A. If your system was made before 2010, you may want to consider replacing your cooling system now, before R-22 is completely phased out. Some manufacturers carry alternate refrigerants such as R-407C, R-438A and R-422, however, they may not work with an R-22 AC or heat pump and could compromise your system’s performance.
